Five Ways to Make Your Apartment Feel More Like Home
March 21, 2019
Moving into a new apartment comes with its fair share of excitement, but also its fair share of struggles when it comes to decorating on a budget. If you want your apartment to feel more like a home quickly after you move in, there are a few smart things that you can do to make it a bit more your own personal style. Here are five quick and easy ways to make your space feel more like you.
Add some artwork. One of the simplest ways to make your space feel like it’s truly your own is by adding artwork to the walls. You don’t have to spend a lot of money to create truly beautiful pieces of art to fill the space; instead, create your own modernist drawings using charcoal on sheets of canvas, blow up favorite photos and place them in high quality frames or even visit a local craft market to pick up something unique from a local artisan.
Fill the shelves. Fill your bookshelves with favorite books and other meaningful objects that make you happy every time you see them. Things like old photographs, potted plants, knick knacks from past trips and other items that hold meaning to you will make your space feel more like your own.
Add fresh flowers. Once a week or so, do something nice for yourself and pick up a bouquet of fresh flowers. This is a quick and easy way to add some color and a special feel to your kitchen, living area or bedroom.
Add an area rug. If a room feels particularly bare or uninviting, it may be because you need to soften it up with an area rug. Rugs don’t just add a pop of color or texture to the room, but they also feel good under foot and make you want to spend more time in a space.
Invest in new bedding. A good night’s sleep and a restful sleeping area are key to feeling at home in your space. If your bed is feeling less comfortable than it could be, it may be time to invest in a new comforter, a mattress topper or even just some fresh sheets.
